Breakfast Cookies 2

Things are on the upswing this week – maybe.  Lindsay is 11 weeks and I’m just anxious to get her on a schedule so I can have my routine back!  She continues to wake up around 3am – not eating but just waking up, forcing one of us to get up. Sometimes it is quick, most of the time she is up tossing and turning for a while – 2 hours.  Any tips on this? She’s in the 90th percentile for weight so I feel like she doesn’t need to eat when she wakes up? She goes back easily but is just tossing and turning throughout the rest of the night. Think she’s hungry? I feel like feeding her would take much longer than the current situation, but I’m not sure which sleep  situation would be better.

It is exhausting and  a vicious cycle for me because I want to get back in shape, especially since it is bathing suit season and without a routine I feel like I’m all over the place. The lack of sleep is killer. I’m getting there and getting in the workouts where I can. On the eating front, I need to come up with a better plan:  I don’t pack food for myself when we are out, become starving and start hoarding food, and also I eat all the kids leftovers and crusts. I’ll get there. I should just concentrate on being a mom and enjoying the moments.  Some bullets & a recipe:

* I think I am going to become a coffee drinker. I’ve been drinking it on the days where I wake up and I can’t see straight. Wine will be second.  Soon I’ll be a coffee addict and alcoholic.  Just kidding!  Thanks  for the tip Angela :)

* With this heat we are having, Nick has had such an appetite. I’ve been pinning things left and right to try to keep up with him.  What do you give your kids for lunch? I have been trying to be creative and using variety from their pb sandwich, veggie sticks (aka potato chips, really) and grapes/berries.  A couple things I have made for food lately:

I was playing around with this recipe and this turned out well:

Breakfast Cookies v2
Adapted from here - makes 6 cookies

  • 3/4c rolled oats
  • 1/2c oat flour
  • 3T almond meal
  • 1/4 c flax + 1/4 c warm water = sit for 5 min
  • 1T  coconut oil, melted
  • 1/8c maple syrup (optional/to taste)
  • 1 mashed banana
  • handful of  chocolate chips

How was your 4th of July? My kids were afraid of the sparkers, we did not do fireworks (good thing!) and it was Lindsay’s first!

oh and have you tried this yet?? Yikes! It’s yummy! I recommend the blueberry graham flavor

I’m so glad you’re starting to feel like you’re getting a handle on things! 11 weeks in is not that long, it will only get better. I was still feeding Lil at night at that age- it was worth it for me, b/c she’d be back to sleep in a few minutes. Every kid’s different, it seems… but one feed at 3 months is not bad!
We’ve been doing lots of tortilla rolls ups for lunch (hummus w/ shredded carrots or zucchini, or pb with bananas)- it takes a little prep, but isn’t bad to do several at once. I have been wanting to try that frz yogurt–must get some!

Glad you’re feeling a little better. Totally done in with food choices myself at mo’ really need some new things. It doesn’t help that I go off proper meals and want to snack when preggers so struggle to cook. If you come up with ideas, please post. Since Murray’s birthday all he wants are sausages, crackers and cake!!!! LOL! Tonight all he ate was a baby bell cheese. that is fairly unusual though and I think nhe was just knackered. So jealous of your hot weather. We have had nothing but rain for weeks and rain flood warnings for the next 2 days. I love Scotland, but HATE its weather. Maybe Lynsey needs a feed – M didn’t most nights, but I’m a rookie really so what do I know. She’s maybe just a hungry wee soul. Get the coffee out lady. On my early morning workout days I have to have some caffeine – instant so not a huge hit, but it does make the difference! Happy 4th July to you.

I love to hear your thoughts, write away!
