2012 year in review

2012 was a great year! It was a huge year for our family – a new baby and new house!  I was able to run all the way to the end of the pregnancy and do TRX which was awesome!! I stayed fit and had a really good pregnancy. I did one 5k while I was pregnant walk/jog with the double jogger and my two little ones.

IT’s a girl – April 18. That seems SO long ago.
I was blessed to run my 9th Broad Street Runa couple weeks after Lindsay was born. It was AWESOME. Such a great feeling and amazing body!!  I ate sooo many Cadbury mini eggs and made crazy Mexican meals while I was pregnant.

The summer flew by, we moved and it was stressful with a newborn! I got to run the Philly Distance Run/RocknRoll Philly and the Philly Half Marathon with my little cheer squad…

It has been kind of a crazy second half of the year too! Running has kind of taken a backseat to mom duties the second half of this year as I try to balance 3 kids which has been insane (for me). Instead, I’ve switched over to circuit and high impact training – shorter workouts with the same or better results.  At least I made it over 1000 miles this year, that’s hopeful :)

2012: 1024.7 miles ran (169 + hours)

2011: 1250.3 miles

2010: 1186.3 miles

2009: 1645.5 miles

2008: 1748.4 miles

my goal word for 2013 is BALANCE. I don’t have a sense of balance right now with everything, so that is what I’ll be working on. What is your goal word?

Happy new year! I know I don’t comment much but all your posts go to my email and I read them!!! Looks like you did great balancing fitness and motherhood…not the same as pre kids but still awesome! I am jealous!

  2. What a fantastic year for your family! I can’t believe how big Lindsay is already. And if I’m at a stage of life with less time to run, I would definitely switch to HIIT and circuits, too. Like you said, they are probably more effective! But I just love to go for long runs.. :) Happy New year!!

HAPPY HOGMANAY! The arrival of a little babba is always going to make it a good one and so it did for us too! She has got so big. I think you’re doing really well with trying to find your balance. I know, I feel much more that there will be time soon enough for the longer stuff, but once the little years are gone, they are gone. Harris is 11 weeks tomorrow and out of his moses basket and into his cradle tonight and I feel so bereft that it is going too too fast this time! All the best for 2013.

  4. Wow, that’s a lot of miles! I have stopped tracking, but I KNOW I didn’t come even close in 2012.

  5. what a year! wow – you never cease to amaze me with all you do. and those three little ones are just adorable!

i’m totally into balance too – it just makes sense.

    happy new year!

  6. I can’t believe Lindsay was only born this past April – it feels so much longer ago!

I love to hear your thoughts, write away!
